Compare Baser with traditional options
Your choices affect both your outdoor experience and our planet. This comparison can help you learn what to look for when buying a stand for your patio umbrella.
Baser patio umbrella base
VS
Granite patio umbrella base
Setup
Baser - patented click system
Our design keeps a tight grip on any patio umbrella in any wind conditions, bar a tornado.
Traditional - simple screw
Usually equipped with a plastic handle, this screw will loosen over time, letting your umbrella fall when you least expect it.
Stability
Baser - sandbag
The flex of the sand has three benefits – it’s easier to position, it allows the base to absorb wind force better, and it’s less likely to hurt your toes if you bump into it.
Traditional - concrete
Heavy rock is stable, but it’s harder to position and much more painful to kick accidentally. It may also rock in high winds.
Ergonomics
Baser - pick up and go
Even one of your kids can scoop up the sandbag and place it wherever you like
Traditional - drag or push
Be careful with your back when moving these bases. You run the risk of scraping your deck too.
Sustainability
Baser - green design
Recycled materials, solar/wind-powered production, repair and recycle – we do our best to reduce our impact on the world.
Traditional - who knows?
In your research, which companies are transparent and earth-friendly in their production? And does your recycling station accept plastic-wrapped concrete?
CO2 Emissions
Baser – low impact
You can buy sand nearly anywhere, so from our production site to your front door, we expend a total of 7 ounces of CO2 to deliver your purchase.
Traditional - high impact
Transporting 30 kg of concrete from China by ship and truck makes one product responsible for at least 5.5 lbs of CO2.
Testimonials
Baser vs concrete or granite
Baser the most sustainable choice of shade and base
We began as a family business and rooted on those values we strive to become the worlds most sustainable choice of patio umbrella and patio umbrella bases – it is ambitious but with your help we know we can get there. From materials to where we produce or how we delivery to you we consider the effect on our planet earth.
Made in Denmark
Baser have from the very start chosen to manufacture in Denmark instead of the far east – this have given us more control but also saved 27,854 kg CO2 in transport as we don’t transport 50 kg granite umbrella bases 20.000 km from China to Europe. Our production in Denmark is 100% windpowered materials and our fabric supplier in Spain who makes our durable outdoor fabric for our sandbags uses energy from 100% renewable sources (30% of that is from their own solar panels)
Sustainable materials
Materials have a huge impact in how sustainable a product is we therefore from the start made the choice to produce our patio umbrella stand and patio umbrella in recycled ocean plastics and industrial waste – this means that when you have a Baser patio umbrella base on your patio you have been part of transforming 2 kg of ocean plastic into a new product.
100% recyclable
We produce our products so they last for years, however, nothing in this world will last forever and for that reason we made our products so they can be 100% recycled and reused either in our production or at your local recycling station. Our recycling portal lets you send your used Baser patio umbrella base or patio umbrella back to us, we then recycle and reuse it in our production, and you receive a voucher on 10% that makes sure we reuse our materials on and on.
