At first, I thought it was an expensive parasol base, but the screws on my regular base are helplessly rusted after 2 seasons. This base never rusts and the parasol is really firmly in place.

Yes, a umbrella base has one or two sandbags included, so one product consists of the base system and sandbags.
The sandbags come to you empty so we can ship them quickly. This also saves 5.5 lb of CO2 in transport emissions. You can fill the bags with regular sand.
Any sand will work. We use the cheapest from our local DIY store. If you live near a beach that allows sand harvesting, you can take it from there, but please check your local laws first.
Yes, our sandbags can stay outside all year. However, to keep them in their best shape, you may want to store your base and bags when you’re not using them.

Baser to the rescue! We created the Spacesaver, a balcony half-umbrella base that keeps your umbrella stable and looks great while still fitting neatly in small outdoor spaces, tucking in against a wall, rail or corner.
Got a patio umbrella up to 7 ft wide? We’ve got you covered. Our Spacesaver half-umbrella base is compact enough to fit tight spaces yet stable enough to hold most small umbrellas. Just set the half-umbrella base in a corner or along a rail, position a sandbag or two across it, and pop open your canopy for cool shade in your cozy space.
Unless you’re an elite powerlifter, you probably groan at the thought of hauling 50 pounds of granite, steel or cement upstairs, even with a elevator.
But the Spacesaver half-umbrella base itself weighs 4.4 pounds, and you simply fill the sandbags with 40 or 50 pounds of sand. And it’s much easier to carry and position a sandbag (that has a sturdy handle, no less) than a slab of rock.
Keep in mind that the higher your balcony is from the ground, the more wind your parasol will have to fight.
Traditional bases have fixed weights, but you can buy extra sandbags to pin down your Spacesaver balcony if you’re on the 30th floor instead of the 3rd.
